Apple Watch Ultra 2 likely to be released as early as September
Apple is developing the second-generation Apple Watch Ultra, scheduled for release later this year. We can also look forward to the expected arrival of the Apple Watch Series 9. New Apple products
Another batch of new Apple products awaits us this autumn. While we can be sure of the long-awaited iPhone 15 series and the Apple Watch Series 9, there are also rumours of a successor to Apple's high-end smartwatch, the Apple Watch Ultra. While the exact name has not yet been confirmed, Apple is likely to follow the same pattern as with the Apple Watch SE, with no year or numbering used. We can't wait to see what Apple has in store for this next generation of high-end smartwatches.
Apple Watch Ultra 2
Last year, Apple surprised us by introducing the Apple Watch Ultra, a rugged and advanced version of the Apple Watch. Designed specifically for diving, this titanium smartwatch offers impressive battery life and even features a built-in siren for emergencies. Moreover, it features the largest screen ever used in an Apple Watch. Although the Apple Watch Ultra is only nine months old, there are already rumours for the next generation. According to Apple analyst Mark Gurman, who is usually well-informed, we can expect the announcement of the second Apple Watch Ultra generation during the iPhone 15 presentation in September.
What to expect?
Expectations are that the new Apple Watch Ultra 2 will get mostly internal upgrades. The first-generation Ultra used the S8 chip, which was actually no faster than the 2020 S6 chip. So the second-generation Apple Watch Ultra is likely to be equipped with the Apple S9, which is expected to be around 20-30% faster, a significant difference. In terms of colours, we will have to wait and see, but it is likely that the Watch will be available in multiple colours (such as Midnight and Starlight colours). The straps are also likely to get an update with, for example, new versions aimed at other extreme sports. The Apple Watch Ultra is mainly aimed at climbing, diving and running, we are curious to see if this will differ from the second version. So we will have to be patient until we get more information, which we will probably get during the Apple Event in mid-September. In any case, we are very curious and excited!
